Sailing holidays around the Faroe Islands | Offshore Yacht Charter
The Faroe Islands are one of Europe’s best kept secrets. Rugged and remote. Sail with us and you’ll discover a different world. A group of islands with immense green mountains and an unique volcanic landscape with mountain peaks hidden in driving clouds or fog, and a few turf-roofed houses. A world with spectacular, fantasy-like cliffs, that rise up perpendicular from the sea to 800 meters high with beautiful waterfalls. In summer it hardly gets dark, therefore there is also plenty of time for a nice stroll after sailing.
The changing weather creates a magical atmosphere and changing light all the time. True, the weather can be unreliable, but the good news is that conditions in the middle of the Atlantic change fast. You’ll never have long to wait for a glimpse of sun. There’s sound logic in the Faroese saying: “If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes!”

The Faroe islands are best to explore by a sailing voyage, because most places are difficult to reach, unless you have a car. Besides, the most beautiful places are only accessible by boat such as the spectacular Vestmanna birdcliffs. Our sailing holidays are a mixure between traveling, culture and relaxing. We will be in a port or at anchor every night. It is not necessary to have sailing experience.
On our ‘category C’ sailing holidays there will also be time for sightseeing. This means that the vessel will stay a day in a harbor and if you like, you can make a long walk for example.
The many islands and ‘Sounds’ give shelter to the swell of the Atlantic ocean. This gives us many alternative possibilities and also the day distances of our sailing trips can be adjusted to bad weather. The tidal currents can be spectacularly strong here. Fortunately, we have made ,with some help of locals, a good overview, through which we can avoid dangerous wind against current situations, but we will still be able to sail between the many islands. All this make the Faroe Islands a fantastic and challenging sailing area for an adventurous and active sailing holiday.
We will regularly have to carry out a sailing maneuver. The sailing enthusiast can help us, but nothing is mandatory, after all it is your holiday, you can simply enjoy and relax.
