Transfers to and from the ship
For practical reasons you need to arrange your own transportation to and from the ship, the costs are therefore not included in the fare. Below you will find more information and useful links for flights and transfers to the port of destination. The mentioned prices for tickets, taxis and public transport are only guidelines and are subject to availability. The earlier you book, the cheaper your ticket will be!
Compensate your flight
Despite that sailing holidays are pretty much the most sustainable means of traveling possible, traveling by airplane is not, unfortunately. If you like you can make a compensation by having a tree planted:
– Have a tree planted in Scotland for just £ 15 –
– Or have trees planted somewhere else from € 1,-
General check-in information
There are several check-in options and check-in times. It is important that you are well in time at the airport and at the gate! In what way you check in, always bring your booking confirmation. Checking in online can usually be done as from 24h before departure, but keep in mind that during the sailing trip there is limited (WiFi) internet in the harbours.
If you are traveling with hand luggage only, you can go directly to the gate. If you are also traveling with hold luggage, then you can drop off your bags at the luggage drop-off point (if you have checked in in advance) so you will not have to queue up.
How can you find us in the harbour?
You can download a handy PDF with a map and directions for each port each port of call. Print this (also for your return harbour) and take it on the go!
In the harbor you can recognize the Cherokee by her light blue hull (all other yachts are usually white) and the Offshore Yacht Charter flag.
Have your ticket arranged
For your flight ticket you can also contact our partner Jos Slatius of Travelforyou.
He can book your flight for you for € 35,- extra. If necessary, he can place an option on your flight first, without any obligation. Because of volume purchasing and agreements with travel organisations the offer can sometimes be even cheaper and if you wish, he can also arrange a hotel, car hire or extra insurances:

Tips to fly cheaper
• The earlier you book, the cheaper your flight will be. Because of the limited offer up North, there will be no last-minute flights.
• Tuesday seems to be the cheapest day to book tickets.
•Sometimes it is cheaper to book a return flight for just a single journey, try your return date outside the high season on a weekday to get the most profit. Your return flight must be the last trip (which you will not take). If you will not show up on your first flight, the second flight will be automatically canceled.
• The airports for the outward and return journey are often not the same on our sailing voyages. Therefore you could try whether an ‘open jaw’ ticket is cheaper than two separate journeys. In this way you actually book a kind of return flight. At Expedia for example, you can select the option ‘multi-city’ instead of one way or a return.
• You can also check as a final step (the first step is comparing different providers and selecting the best times) to check whether this exact same flight, is not offered cheaper somewhere else at: Momondo
• Extend your holidays and possibly make your transfer easier with an extra night ashore.
Travel fast and cheap:
Travel with hand luggage only. Sailing suits and boots can be rented on board and duvets are now standard provided, so no sleeping bag needed anymore. Check the dimensions for your hand luggage here
We ourselves are very pleased with booking through Expedia.com, easy booking and good customer service that is always available.

What to do in case of delays
Firstly, try to avoid additional costs
On the northern islands flights are sometimes delayed due to strong winds. Therefore book your entire trip as a whole from a single provider, so if you miss your connection, all charges (such as rebooking, food and possibly an overnight stay) will be compensated.
Airplane delays
As a passenger in the EU you are entitled to damage indemnity if you have a delay or cancellation as long as this is not a force majeure situation. Force majeure situations are technical conditions, weather conditions, unannounced strikes or hostags. The company must be able to support this properly. For a delay of more than two hours you are entitled to food, drinks and two telephone calls, faxes or e-mails. If your flight will be the next day you are entitled to a hotel accommodation and transport to and from the airport.
Starting from 3 hours delay or cancellation:
Flights up to 1500 km € 250,-
Between 1500 en 3500 km € 400,-
More than 3500 km € 600,-
In case of delay you you obligated to keep the costs low on the food and the hotel. Keep all your receipts and send them with a letter to the airline, including flight number, and what compensation you are entitled to. If a letter does not help, you can submit a complaint to the Disputes Committee for Aeronautics. This costs € 50, – but when you are right, these costs will be for the counterparty.
