Sailing holidays Z04-22 Island hopping central & Southern Azores.

From, the by sailors, world-famous harbour Horta on the island Faial, we start island-hopping around the central Azores. On the programme are the islands Sao Jorge, Graciosa and Terceira. The wind will determine the order. The plan is to spend a day on one of the islands to explore the island.

One possibility is Angra do Heroismo on Terceira, which served as a stop-over on the shipping route between Europe and America. Its ancient history and heritage have made this historic town a World Heritage Site. Options are a forest walk in the ‘Reserva Florestal de Recreio da Lagoa das Patas’ and/or the volcano caves of ‘Gruta do Natal’.

From Terceira it is 92 nautical miles sailing to Sao Miguel, one of the southern islands of the Azores. This long distance means that we have to sail through the night. With a bit of luck we will see dolphins or even whales along the way and a beautiful sunset and/or rise. Depending on the wind, we will arrive early next morning which leaves us some time for some sightseeing, like the Miradouro do Pico da Barrosa, for example. A volcanic mountain lake with a beautiful view.

The last sailing day is short, but the plan is to anchor at Ilhéu de Vila Franca do Camp. A kind of mini volcano with a perfect circular swimming place in the middle, a real mini paradise with a lovely cliff walk as well. We will end the sailing trip in Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel.

The daily distances vary, depending on weather and tide, between 13 and 92 miles. The above schedule depends on weather, wind and tide, if necessary we can change destinations.

Land excursions are not included in the price and are of course not mandatory.

Sailing holiday Prices 

The ‘board price’ of the voyage is the rent for ship and crew, which must be paid up front.

The ‘board cash’ is the amount per person for the food and drink on board (including crew), as well as fuel, water, shore, port fees and taxes, but excluding trips, food and drinks ashore. This amount must be paid upon embarkation in cash to the skipper (in the appropriate currency). What remains after the sailing holiday, will be refunded.

With less than 3 participants, the ‘board cash’ is usually not sufficient. In that case, there will be a surcharge of up to € 50 per person.

Sailing holidays discount

Customer Discount:
If you book a second sailing holiday with us within a year, you’ll get 5% off the ‘board price’.

Group discount:
If you book a sailing holiday as a group (more than 3 passengers), you will receive 5% discount per person on the ‘board price’.

Youth Discount:
If you are under 29 years old, you will get 10% discount on the ‘board price’.

Discounts can not be combined with each other.

Sailing holiday with your own private cabin

If you would like  a private cabin (room), you can reserve this for 1.5 times the ‘board price’.

Sailing holiday categories

Category A:
Offshore crossings, includes also sailing throughout the nights. Passengers will also be grouped in the watch system.

Category B:
Offshore sailing holidays, there will be no sailing throughout the nights, but occasionally a late arrival at the harbour (or an early departure), depending on the weather.

Category C:
Relaxed sailing holidays with shorter sailing distances, including more time for sightseeing and sometimes a nice land excursion.

Category D:
Sailing holiday specials, from ‘Sailing holidays with Yoga’ up to expedition sailing. Not every season available.

Category E:
Sailing holiday’s with extra sailtraining.
