Sailing Area - Offshore Yacht Charter

Sail along
Our sailing trips vary from trips of five days to trips of a complete week (see sailing scheme). You can combine the week-trips successively as long as you may wish. The character of the sailing trips is adventurous and sporty, but also relaxed with time for yourself and for visiting on shore. Because of the speed and comfortable sailing features that characterize the Cherokee, new sailing areas come within arm's reach.

Sailing Trips

Great Britain
In June the Cherokee will sail from Vlissingen (the Netherlands) to the English coast. During this trip one can experience how close Great Britain is to the Netherlands. Apart from enjoying the sailing itself, you will also enjoy the English atmosphere, the chalk rocks and the pleasant pubs.
The Channel Islands & Brtittany
During the summer the Cherokee will set sail for longer sailing trips. From the Netherlands the Cherokee will sail to Cherbourg in Normandy. This is a particularly beautiful sailing area with impressing cliffs, rocky coasts, castles and fords, authentic little fish harbours and a tide difference that can run up to nine meters.
Spain, Portugal & the Algarve
In August the Cherokee will cross the Bay of Biscay in order to reach the fjords of northern Spain (which are called Ria's) and the harbours of La Coruña, Porto and Lisbon. This is a wonderful sailing area and especially Lisbon is a very beautiful and pleasant city. The old quarters of Lisbon are attractive and the castle near the city centre, looking out on the city centre and beyond, is really worth paying a visit.
Late summer will be spent in the Algarve, at the south coast of Portugal, and in Andalusia in southern Spain. The weather is good at this time of the year in the Algarve and there is a great chance to see dolphins during our sailing trips in this area. From Cadiz we can make an excursion into the ancient cultural city of Seville, and it is also possible to sail along to Tangier in Morocco.
The Canary Islands & Madeira
At the beginning of December the Cherokee will leave for Madeira and the Canary Islands. During Christmas and New Years Eve the Cherokee will sail in the area of the Madeira Archipelago. This small Portuguese island group in the middle of the ocean is very pretty and varied, there are high mountains with green forests and waterfalls, as well as beautiful sandy beaches.
In January and February the Cherokee will offer week trips departing from San Sebastian on La Gomera. These sailing trips are ideal for getting some well deserved extra sun. Because of the average temperature of 23° Celsius, it always seems to be spring on the Canary Islands and with the constant northeast trade wind it is a perfect sailing area with lots of dolphins and also whales.
All the Islands, originating from volcanoes, have a characteristic landscape. The rough coasts in combination with the pleasant Spanish little harbours make these sailing trips a fantastic experience. In March, the Cherokee will set sail to go back to the Netherlands.
Travel Information
Each sailing trip lasts about one week, but you can combine them up to several weeks. You can book them individually or in a group. Transportation to and from the ship are not included and must therefore be organised by yourselves. In this regard, the Dutch version of our website www.offshore-yacht-charter.com offers some in-depth information for the various ports under 'Travel information'.
